Open a luxury dishwasher and find water pooled over the filter, and the fault sits somewhere along a short, well defined drain path. The pump pulls water from the sump, pushes it through a check valve and hose, and sends it past an air gap or high loop into the drain. On Bosch, Cove, Asko, KitchenAid, and Fisher & Paykel machines, each of those stations fails in a recognizable way, and a technician who services them daily can usually name the culprit within minutes of arriving.
The distinction that matters is between a blockage and a failed component. Food debris and glass fragments jam impellers and clog filters, which is a cleaning and clearing job. A drain pump with a seized motor, a check valve that no longer seals, or a control board that never energizes the pump is a parts job. Check valve
The check valve keeps drained water from flowing back into the tub. When it sticks or no longer seals, dirty water returns after every cycle. We replace the valve and confirm the tub stays dry between washes.
Filters and sump
Fine mesh filters and the sump beneath them collect food debris until flow drops to a trickle. We remove, clean, and inspect the full filter assembly and clear the sump so the pump can do its work.
Air gap and drain hose
A clogged air gap at the counter, a kinked hose, or a missing high loop can stop drainage entirely or let sink water siphon back into the tub. We clear or correct the entire path from tub to drain connection.
Control faults
If the control board never energizes the drain pump, or a sensor misreads the water level, the cycle ends with a full tub. We read the fault codes, test the circuit, and replace boards or sensors as the diagnosis dictates.
