LG washers in Los Angeles
LG front load and top load washers are everywhere in the beach cities. We pull them out of laundry rooms in Manhattan Beach, garage alcoves in Hermosa Beach, and hillside homes across Palos Verdes, and the faults repeat. The direct drive motor throws an LE code and locks, and the trail almost always leads to the hall sensor on the stator. A UE code keeps the drum rebalancing until the cycle stalls. Older front load drums grind on a worn tub bearing while the spider arm corrodes behind them. After 24 years on these machines, we recognize the pattern before the panel comes off.
Guessing on a direct drive LG is expensive because the symptoms overlap. A locked motor, a failing hall sensor, and a seized tub bearing can all stop the same drum, and swapping the wrong part solves nothing. We test the stator, the sensor harness, and the pump before naming the fix, so diagnosis comes first and the quote follows it. The visit is a $95 diagnostic, waived with your repair. We install genuine OEM parts, arrive same or next day across the South Bay, and back the work with the 3 Year Onyx Warranty.
What actually fails
What actually stops an LG drum.
LE locked motor code
The direct drive motor refuses to turn and the display throws LE. In most of these calls the stator itself is fine and the hall sensor mounted on it has failed, feeding the board bad position data. We test both before replacing either.
UE unbalance and the rotor position sensor
The drum shuffles the load, refills, and tries again until the cycle dies on UE. When redistribution never works, the fault usually sits in the rotor position sensor rather than the load, and the board is reading a drum it cannot see.
Tub bearing and spider arm
A front load drum that rumbles on spin and shows play at the rim is riding a worn tub bearing, and the aluminum spider arm behind it corrodes in detergent residue until it cracks. Caught early, the drum module is savable.
OE drain error and the pump filter
Water sits in the tub at the end of the cycle and OE appears. The coin trap filter ahead of the drain pump clogs with lint, guitar picks, and hair pins, and once flow drops the pump overheats chasing it.
Door lock assembly
A washer that will not start, or will not release the door at the end of a cycle, often has a failed lock assembly. The latch, the wax motor inside it, and the wiring to the board each get checked separately.
Water inlet valve on the fill side
Slow fills, a drum that fills while the machine is off, or rust flecks in the dispenser drawer all point to the inlet valve. Screens clog, solenoids weaken, and a valve that no longer seals will drip until it floods.

Questions, answered
Before you call.
Do you repair LG washers?
Yes, both front load and top load, including direct drive models. The LE locked motor code, UE unbalance stalls, and OE drain errors make up most of our LG washer calls. Onyx Appliance Service is an independent company, not affiliated with or authorized by LG.
Why does my LG washer say LE and refuse to spin?
Start by unplugging the machine for a few minutes, since a hot motor can trip LE once and recover. If the code returns, the hall sensor on the stator has usually failed and the board is locking the motor to protect it. That is a sensor replacement, not a new motor.
What does a LG washer repair cost?
LG direct drive machines get an exact quote before any work begins, based on what the teardown actually shows. The visit itself is a $95 diagnostic, waived when you approve the repair. One Quote. One Price. Guaranteed Repair. No Supplemental Estimates.
Do you use genuine LG parts?
Every part is genuine OEM, matched to your model and serial before we order, and we do not fit aftermarket substitutes. The trucks carry the common LG washer parts, including hall sensors and drain pumps, so most repairs finish in a single visit.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?
Every repair is covered by the 3 Year Onyx Warranty on both parts and labor. You receive it in writing at the time of service, and if the same fault returns within that window we return and make it right at no charge.
